Sizes it prints at

One file, several sizes. The largest is 28 x 41 cm, which is the master at its full 3328 by 4864 pixels. Printing it smaller only raises the density, so anything below that size is sharper again.

  • 28 x 41 cm301 dpi, the full file, nothing trimmed
  • 21 x 30 cm403 dpi, close to A4, a thin trim on one edge

What is in the picture

The design has two parts. A double ruled border in muted green runs around the edge of the sheet, with a small sprig of leaves breaking over the line at the top left and again at the bottom right, so the frame does not look stamped on. Inside stands a single plant: one main stem, long lance shaped leaves turning at different angles, and two buds still closed, drawn in fine outline with pale green inside them.

The paper colour is a warm cream and there is a lot of it left showing. The plant occupies the middle without filling it, which is the difference between a botanical study and a pattern.

How to hang it

This is the more formal of the two wall pieces and it takes well to being paired. Two prints of the same size at the same height, with an even gap between them, is far easier to balance than a wall of many frames and gets most of the same effect. It also suits a hallway or a room you work in, where the ruled border reads as considered rather than decorative.

Hang it with the centre of the artwork at about eye level, roughly 145 to 150 centimetres from the floor. Above a sideboard, measure from the furniture instead and keep the gap between a hand's width and about 25 centimetres.

Printing this one

Everything here is thin lines on pale cream, so the quality setting matters more than the paper does. Draft mode breaks the ruled border into a dotted one and thins the outlines of the buds until they disappear. Print at normal or high quality and at actual size. Scaled to fit the page, the border ends up at an uneven distance from the edges of the sheet, and on a design built from straight lines that is visible immediately.

A warm white mount suits the cream. A cool bright white one beside it makes the paper look dirty.
